Press Advisory
No. 01-02
Subject: Rennie M. Cory Memorial Ride

For Immediate Release
March 31, 2002

Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 - North Carolina will honor the life and work of Rennie M. Cory with a memorial ride to be held on Sunday, April 7, 2002 at 2:00PM. The staging area will be located at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 670, Doc Bennett Road, Fayetteville, North Carolina. This event is to mark the one year anniversary of his tragic death.

On April 7, 2001 while commanding his last mission with the Joint Task Force - Full Accounting (JTF-FA) LTC Cory along with six other Americans and nine Vietnamese were lost when a Vietnamese helicopter in which they were flying crashed in Quang Binh province. They were surveying potential sites for full-scale excavations to recover the remains of Americans who were missing in action from the Vietnam War.

On April 7, 2002 RT1NC will give honor to Cory, to the members of the task force who died with him, and to their mission of peace.

For further information on this event please contact Tom Stanley - President at 910-630-2339.
